Thermal Breaking
Improving the thermal performance of glazing systems is becoming ever more vital for energy conservation in buildings. Aluminium is an excellent conductor of
heat, therefore it can adversely affect the U-rating of a window to a significant degree.
The introduction of the pour and cut polyurethane thermal barrier block system known as “thermal breaking” was a natural progression for the company in 1995.
This thermal barrier of low conductivity is inserted between the inner and outer sections of the frame member, thereby reducing the effects of condensation or frost formation.
In 2002, GK Systems installed new equipment to comply with the new thermal insulation requirements set out in Building Regulations Parts L1 and L2.
